Jean-Louis Borloo, Ministre d’État, Minister for Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and Town and Country Planning (Regional Development), chairing the informal meeting of ministers for the environment and energy of the European Union with Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet, Minister of State with responsibility for Ecology, met with the European ministers for the environment on 3 and 4 July for the first informal meeting of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Jean-Louis Borloo, Ministre d’Etat, Minister for Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and Town and Country Planning (Regional Development) brought together the European energy ministers on 4 and 5 July for another informal meeting, straight after the meeting of the 27 environment ministers.

European Cultural Season

To mark its Presidency of the Council of the European Union, France is launching a ground-breaking initiative by inviting its 26 EU partners to showcase the best of their heritage and creative talent during the second half of 2008.
Under the title of the European Cultural Season, this series of events will highlight the creative vitality of European cultures as well as the strengths of a largely shared identity through a common European cultural heritage.
Hundreds of events have been staged around France to bring this Europe of creation and heritage to as many people as possible.
