Declaration by the Presidency of the Council of the European Union on the bombing of the Indian Embassy in Kabul on 7 July

The Presidency of the Council of the European Union condemns in the strongest terms the atrocious attack carried out today, 7 July, on the Embassy of the Republic of India in Kabul, which killed some forty people and injured over a hundred including Embassy staff and Afghan civilians.
The Presidency expresses its sympathy with the families and loved ones of the victims and recalls the unacceptable nature of an action directed against the diplomatic representation of a State.
The Presidency assures the Indian Government of its solidarity and reminds the Afghan Government of the European Union’s determined support in the fight against terrorism.
