Death of Bronislaw Geremek: Press release from the President of the European Council

The President of the European Council has learned with sadness and emotion of the tragic death of Bronislaw Geremek.
He wishes to pay homage to this great figure from the European project and the reunification of the continent and to express his admiration for the struggle that he led for Polish democracy within Solidarity.
The President of the European Council salutes the memory of this exceptional man – a respected MEP whose courage, humility and unwavering commitment to fundamental rights embodied the founding values of the European ideal.
