Declaration by the Presidency of the Council of the European Union on the arrest of Radovan Karadzic

The European Union welcomes the arrest of Radovan Karadzic, indicted for genocide, crimes against Humanity and war crimes by the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY).
This development is an illustration of the commitment of the new government in Belgrade to contribute to peace and stability in the region of the Balkans.
It is a milestone in Serbia’s rapprochement with the European Union.
