Conference on micro-credit

The annual conference of the European Microfinance Network will be held in Nice from 8 to 10 September and will be organised in partnership with EUROFI, a think tank dedicated to financial integration in Europe. It builds on the extension of measures taken by the European Parliament and Commission in support of micro-credit.
The conference of the European Microfinance Network will be an opportunity to review the progress made with regard to the different aspects of the "European initiative for the development of micro-credit in support of growth and employment", launched by the European Commission on 13 November 2007. The initiative, which is aimed at improving the institutional environment for micro-credit and micro-enterprises, extending good practices and setting up appropriate financing, is in line with the Lisbon Strategy, and is part of the European Small Business Act and the policy on fighting exclusion.
This conference will also facilitate the launch of a financing provision for microcredit institutions,
in the presence of a representative from the European Commission.
