Declaration by the Presidency of the Council of the European Union on the violence in the West Bank

The Presidency of the Council of the European Union strongly condemns the violence carried out by West Bank Israeli settlers against the Palestinian population, particularly the fires, acts of vandalism and attacks near Nablus last Saturday.
These acts of indiscriminate violence cannot be tolerated. The Presidency of the Council of the European Union calls on the Israeli government, which has condemned these acts, to make every effort to ensure that the Palestinian civil population is protected, in accordance with its obligations under international law.
The Presidency of the Council of the European Union reiterates its condemnation of all violence.
