Jean-Pierre Jouyet, Minister of State to the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, will present the results of the GAERC to the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee.

After the presentation to MEPs of the French Presidency's main external relations priorities on 15 July 2008, Jean-Pierre Jouyet, Minister of State to the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, will present the main results of the GAERC to the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee (AFET) on 15 and 16 September. He will also talk about the informal meeting of the EU's 27 Foreign Affairs Ministers on 5 and 6 September 2008.

With regard to the treaties, the Presidency regularly informs the European Parliament of common foreign and security policy developments (CFSP). In this way the Presidency regularly reports on the work of the GAERC, a monthly meeting of the 27 EU Foreign Ministers, to the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee. The presentation is usually followed by a debate with MEPs on the major external relations issues.

The French Presidency's external relations priorities are based on four principal policy lines:
-Achieving greater solidarity between Europeans and the countries of the Mediterranean rim
-Reinforcing the EU's role in the organisation of the European continent
-Affirming the essential role of the EU in globalisation, especially vis-à-vis EU citizens
-Strengthening the common European defence policy to enable genuine European diplomacy
