  • from: 01.10.2008
  • to: 03.10.2008
  • In: Rueil Malmaison

Many arms which have been used in crimes linked to organised crime or terrorism were initially obtained through illegal trafficking. From 1 to 3 October 2008, in Paris, the EU Member States of the European Firearms Expert Group will review the problematic issues linked to arms trafficking.

They will give feedback and and exchange different analyses on this situation. They will namely address the traceability of firearms and the identification and demonstration of the itineraries used by traffickers. The methods in place to fight other types of trafficking and their relevance to arms trafficking should also be touched upon, with trafficking originating in the Balkans playing a central part in discussions.

The French Presidency aims to hold a discussion on different trafficking types, the source countries, the methods by which they operate and the solutions most likely to be used.
