Statement by the Presidency of the Council on the European Union on the attack which struck a military outpost in South-East Turkey (3 October 2008)

The Presidency of the Council on the European Union condemns in the strongest terms the attack carried out yesterday by the PKK against a military outpost in South-East Turkey, which cost the lives of at least 15 Turkish soldiers. It expresses its full solidarity with the Turkish authorities and conveys its condolences to the victims' families and loved ones.
The Presidency reiterates that it stands firm beside Turkey in its fight against the PKK, which appears on the EU list of terrorist groups and entities.
