Statement by the Presidency of the Council of the European Union concerning the murder of a NGO humanitarian volunteer in Kabul

The Presidency of the Council of the European Union condemns in the strongest terms this morning’s murder in Kabul of a volunteer working for the non-governmental organisation, Serve Afghanistan. It conveys its most sincere condolences to the family, loved ones and colleagues of this humanitarian volunteer.
This murder constitutes another attack on independent, indispensable and courageous action that foreign and Afghan NGOs are conducting to further the reconstruction of Afghanistan and improve the living conditions of its people.
