- from: 22.10.2008
- to: 24.10.2008
- In: Lyon
The Europe Innova Conference 2008 aims to strengthen policies and develop tools to promote innovation through exchanges of experience, best practice and new ideas, and through meetings with innovation stakeholders. To this end, the conference shall explore ways of stimulating knowledge transfers, not only between research organisations and companies, but also between companies. It will also consider how to improve the innovation capacity of European industry through the creation of strategic partnerships. Finally, one of the key aims of the conference is to examine the tools required for the creation and maintenance of an economic environment that is adapted to the development of innovative companies and the acceleration of corporate innovation. These include support for the development of knowledge-intensive service industries, new strategies for optimising the performance of competitive clusters, new entrepreneurial practices and easier access to funding and to intellectual property rights.
With the support of the European Commission, the conference will bring together the Europe Innova community, consisting of approximately 300 European stakeholders belonging to around thirty exchange and analysis networks which are designed to stimulate innovation. Other innovation stakeholders from political, research and corporate circles will also attend this event and will make recommendations on how to give a fresh boost to European innovation policy.
A practical approach will be adopted. In this perspective, projects launched in the framework of the Europe Innova initiative will present tools and models they have developed with a view to stimulating the commercial development of new ideas. Furthermore, particular attention will be paid to what are considered to be the most promising sectors, namely eco-innovation, life sciences and the creative industries.
The Europe Innova initiative is supported by the European Commission, which aims to promote the networking of European innovation professionals. The previous - and first - Europe Innova conference, held in Valencia (Spain) in 2006, focussed on the topic of competitive clusters as driving forces for innovation.
