Statement by the presidency of the Council of the European Union - Suicide bombing in Kabul at the ministry of culture, information, youth and tourism

The Presidency of the Council of the European Union condemns in the strongest possible terms the suicide bombing on Thursday, 30 October 2008 in Kabul inside the Ministry of Culture, Information, Youth and Tourism, killing five and wounding six members of the Ministry staff according to the latest reports.
This despicable act is a direct attack on action being conducted by the Afghan authorities to further Afghanistan’s recovery and improve the Afghan people’s living conditions.
The Presidency of the Council of the European Union conveys its condolences to the victims’ families and loved ones and assures the Afghan authorities of its solidarity and reaffirms its full support to them under these circumstances.
