Euromed Civil Forum 2008: Living and Working Together in the Euro-Mediterranean Area
- from: 31.10.2008
- to: 02.11.2008
- In: Marseilles, Parc Chanot
Civil society actors will gather in Marseille from on 31 October to 2 November on the eve of meeting of the foreign ministers from the Barcelona Process: Union for the Mediterranean.
The last Civil Forum in Marrakech from 4 to 7 November 2007 emphasized the construction of a fair and sustainable peace in the Mediterranean. This year's theme is "Living and Working Together in the Euro-Mediterranean Area". Structured around three plenary sessions and six thematic workshops (human rights, culture, environment, women, socio-economic issues, and youth and education) it will examine the issues linked to mobility, migration and the movement of people in the Euro-Mediterranean area.
The 2008 Civil Forum will identify specific recommendations and proposals which will be sent to the foreign affairs ministers of the Barcelona Process: Union for the Mediterranean who are coming together in Marseille on 3 and 4 November 2008 for a meeting co-chaired by France and Egypt.
The Euro-Mediterranean Civil Forum brings together civil society actors involved in the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership such as thematic networks, NGOs, and national and local platforms. Consequently, it is a unique occasion to pool information and debate ideas and proposals for action in all the areas related to the partnership.
