"Lumières Toujours" Contemporary Art Exhibition at the Palais de Santos in Lisbon

Within the framework of the French EU Presidency and the sixth Temps d'Images festival, the French embassy in Portugal is opening the doors of the Palais de Santos from 8 November to 15 December 2008 to host a contemporary art exhibition.
A video installation called "Human Flags" (Drapeaux Humains) by Nuno Maya and Carole Purnelle celebrating the French Presidency of the European Union will be projected on to an outside wall of the Palais. French nationals living in Lisbon were invited to be the subjects of the "living portraits". Their life-sized and coloured silhouettes, projected onto the facade, move around to form the French and then European flags. This installation will be projected every evening until 15 December and can be seen from the Calçada de Santos and the Avenue du 24 Juillet.
The public can also discover other works by Martinha Maia, Vieira da Silva, Jacques Villeglé and Hubert Le Gall already on display in the embassy's rooms as well as works exhibited especially for the occasion:
"Among the Trees" by Pedro Carbrita Reis;
"Arvore sem Sombra" (Tree Without Shadow) by João Paolo Feliciano;
"Luzes de Revolução" (Lights Without Revolution) by Nuno da Silva;
"Lumières d'Aveugles (Lights of the Blind) by Perrine Lacroix.
Guided visits are organised upon registration (by telephone on +351 21 311 14 75) on 8, 11, 13, 15, 15, 21 and 26 November and 5, 12 and 15 December from 18:00 to 19:00.
Outdoors projection: everyday from 8 to 22 November from 18:00 to midnight.
