The 'Chemical environment, reproduction and child development' conference will bring together European and international researchers and policymakers. The aim of this conference is to debate this topic and review the state of knowledge and research and current regulations in this area.
Current procedures should be modified and adapted to better protect the most fragile stages of human development, through better use of the precautionary principle. Indeed, chemical pollution's interference with human development is a crucial area for research into and prevention of damage caused by toxic exposure to chemical substances in the environment. The emphasis should be on protecting the embryo, the foetus and young children, who are very vulnerable to this exposure.
