Aéroport de Paris (Paris Airport)

The European cultural season symbolises, in a certain way, the task of a major international airport, which is a place for exchanges among people and nationalities, a crossroads for civilisations and cultures. Every day, Aéroports de Paris welcomes the whole world, just as the cultural season of the French Presidency of the European Union proposes to do starting this summer.

Why have you decided to support this event?
As a witness to daily cultural exchanges between nations, Aéroports de Paris felt called on to support this event. By creating a cultural communication platform within it, in Paris - Charles de Gaulle and at Paris - Orly, Aéroports de Paris is displaying double consistency with its task of supporting European culture: being a means of promoting culture by way of its core business - carrying passengers - and transforming airports into leading cultural communication spaces. In addition, Paris - Charles de Gaulle airport constitutes an architectural showcase through which the majority of the distinguished guests during this cultural season will transit. Supporting the cultural season is part of the extension of our mission as host.

More generally, what kind of support is your company providing for the cultural activities?
For Aéroports de Paris, the support offered for cultural activities must be part of a precise logic: the service that we provide for our passengers. Alongside the practical services, shops and relaxation activities, we want to offer an additional dimension, namely, the encounter with culture. Our airports are the entrance to Paris, the Ile de France region and France. By presenting some exhibitions in partnership with institutions and museums, we enable them to promote their holdings for our 85 million passenger a year: from the exhibition called "the quai Branly museum, for cultural dialogue" to the "60 years of cinema" by Marcel Hartmann, and including the "Big Bang" exhibition, a presentation of the collections of the National Museum of Modern Art - Centre Pompidou, or the exposition called "the International Polar Year" in partnership with the CNRS (National Council for Scientific Research). This is our approach.
