Freedom sung by 600 children
At the opening of the Aix-en-Provence Festival
agenda
27th June 2008Practical
Cours Mirabeau, Aix-en-ProvenceThe desire for freedom runs through the entire history of opera. Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, Verdi, Janacek, Britten, but also Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Léo Ferré and many others have sung about this deep, universal feeling that connects generations and people across historical and social divides.
As a reflection of Zaide and the seminar "Pour en finir avec l'esclavage" (To end slavery), the Aix Festival and its eduction service is bringing together more than 600 children around the Maitrise des Bouches-du-Rhone choir school for an eclectic concert.
The children's choir is taught by various artists (Fabrizio Casso, Aka Moon…) and conducted by Samuel Coquard.
