Hilppa Hyrkas was born in Finland in 1960. She lives and works in Karis in Finland. She studied graphic design at the Lahti Art Institution as well as the University of Art and Design in Helsinki. Today, she works with the Finnish broadcasting company YLE, as a graphic designer for television news bulletins. She has taken part in several international poster competitions and received an honourable mention at the 2003 International Poster and Graphic Design Triennial in Kharkov in Ukraine. She was also awarded the Icograda Excellence Award at the 2005 Lahti Poster Biennial in Finland, and won the Lauri Tarasti Prize at the same festival in 2007. Hilppa Hyrkas is a member of the AAF, Association of Finish Artists and GRAFIA, the Association of Finish Graphic Artists.
