agenda
From 30/08 to 06/09/08For its 14th year, the Aye Aye Film Festival invites you to experience Europe, moving past its cultural, political, geographical and aesthetic boundaries. The event take places in the centre of the town of Nancy from 30th August to 6th September.
All year round, the Aye Aye team travel around festivals in Europe and elsewhere with the aim of unearthing rare pearls which will contribute to the originality of the Aye Aye Film Festival.
This shared passion for international cinema is also reflected in the festival team, made up of young European volunteers that the Aye Aye VO association accommodates each year.
The audiovisual geography
Nancy, as a doorway between east and west, is geographically and historically placed as a special location to watch Europe.
The Aye Aye Film Festival is involved in the promotion of cultural and human exchanges, between European countries and beyond. The "Orient-Express" program, a cinema journey through eastern Europe, shows the richness of the European cultural diversity.
The schedule includes sections of heritage cinema, documentaries, east European young cinema and new discoveries.
The international short film competition
Every year, the Aye Aye Film Festival presents an official international selection of short films in competition. For 2008, the selection committees have watched 800 films and selected 35 favourites ready to charm the professional jury and festival goers.
Audiovisual landscape of the wider region
The Aye Aye Film festival does not forget the region which gave rise to it and presents an overview of regional cinematographic production, enlarged to focus on SAR-LUX-LOR. Films from Walloon, Sarr, Luxembourg, Lorraine and german speaking Belgium films, not to be missed!
Even more to be discoverd…
Themed programs: a series of short films for a young audience, short films by students from the Wajda School (Poland), short films with strange aesthetics from the night series "Zizz".
Add also the exceptional open air screenings, under the stars, in the warmth of the late summer evenings. It is here that audiences delight in listening to live music and meeting people as night falls, to see the works of the cinema.
