A symposium to discuss television in Europe
agenda
December 14th and 15th, 2008
Practical
BNF, 3 Quai François Mauriac, Paris 13th arrondissement
The Institut Pierre Werner (IPW), set up in 2003 at the initiative of the French, German and Luxembourg governments, is a European cultural institute intended to stimulate cultural diversity, intellectual exchanges and the debate of ideas both in Europe and between Europe and its neighbours.
Given its place as a privileged observer in Europe and the significant role which Luxembourg plays in television and cinema production, the IPW has taken responsibility for organizing a symposium around this theme. During the European Cultural Season in France and the European "Quatre écrans" festival, the IPW wanted to address various viewpoints and examine various themes: effects of digitalization on the broadcasting of European work, challenges of joint production in the 27-strong European Union, cultural diversity and television in Europe on the eve of the switch to the digital age…
To address these issues, the IPW has brought together participants from various backgrounds: directors, producers, distributors, academics, European decision-makers and heads of national and regional institutions involved in cinema promotion.
