Practical
Part of the "Dans la nuit, des images" exhibition at the Grand Palais. Free entry."Rome-Paris in three minutes" is one of the "tandem" projects of the European Cultural Season, under the auspices of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The French and Italian ministries of culture have joined forces to promote a new form of cinematographic language.
Five French and five Italian film-makers have each made a film of three minutes, set in Paris and Rome. Inventiveness, humour and poetry characterise these original pieces, all filmed on mobile phones. This process enables us to envisage the influence of mobile technologies on audiovisual creation and made the creators work with new fields of investigation for creating and capturing images, with a technology that is accessible to all.
The films can be viewed on the site: www.romaparisentroisminutes.fr. They are also available on the internet on the blog of the project's sponsor, Arte, and on video-sharing sites such as YouTube and DailyMotion. During the first two weeks of December visitors can vote for the two best films (one Italian and one French) and win a Nokia 95 mobile phone and lots of other prizes.
The films will be shown as part of the "Dans la nuit, des images" exhibition at the Grand Palais, where the winners will receive the public's award at a special ceremony on 19 December.
