French pupils are discovering European literature
agenda
December 8th, 2008
Practical
Flanders "Cité scolaire", Hazebrouck, FranceLatvian, Polish and Dutch language and literature are very unfamiliar to French pupils. And, more broadly, the political and economic situations of these countries are likely to remain unfamiliar to them. Even a geographically and culturally "close" country like Germany is, broadly again, "terra incognita". Conference debates by academics specializing in these fields, new writings for the European Cultural Season by authors from the countries presented, and a multilingual recital by an actor are among the educational discoveries awaiting the European citizens of tomorrow. This foreshadows the creation of a European literature and culture resources centre... watch this space!
