French Ambassador Appears Before the Hungarian Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee

French Ambassador appears before the Hungarian Parliament on behalf of the French EU Presidency.

French Ambassador René Roudaut, representative of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union in Hungary, appeared before the Hungarian Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, chaired by Zsolt Németh, on 9 September and the European Affairs Committee, chaired by Matyas Eörsi, on 16 September.

After a presentation on the priorities of the French EU Presidency, discussions focused on the Georgian crisis, EU relations with the Russian Federation, EU Neighbourhood Policy and the rapprochement between the EU and the Balkans. The future of the Lisbon Treaty was also discussed.

Parliamentarians were interested in French proposals on the development of ESDP, progress in the energy/climate package and the CAP review.
