Sampling French products, concert and a waiters' race in Denmark

Danish waiters celebrate the launch of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

On the occasion of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union on 1 July 2008, the French Embassy in Denmark, Maison de l'Europe and several Danish restaurants organised a French food tasting session, concert and waiters' race. The race took place in a square in the heart of Copenhagen decorated in European and French flags. Accompanied by music played by French-Danish group Maudit Comptoir, competitors had to complete the obstacle course as quickly as possible to win. The races judges were: Bérengère Quincy, French Ambassador to Denmark, Jan Høst Schmidt, Head of the European Commission Representation in Denmark, Christel Schaldemose, Member of the European Parliament, Pia Allerslev, Deputy Mayor of Copenhagen responsible for Culture, Pernille Deleuran, Head of the European Affairs Department in the Danish Parliament, Marie-José Caron, advisor to the Assembly of French Nationals Living in Nordic and Baltic Countries and Cécile Black, founder of Franske Bogcafé.
