European Union-Guinea Bissau Meeting Under the Framework of the Cotonou Agreement

The meeting in Bissau on 15 and 16 October of accredited EU heads of mission resident in Bissau and Dakar is part of regular European meetings at local level and reinforced political dialogue provided for by Article 8 of the Cotonou Agreement.
It enabled participants to conduct a joint review of the political and security situation in the country and meet the European head of mission for EU security sector reform (EU SSR) and the head of the election observation mission.
The European heads of mission were also able to meet the country's leading political figures. Before an audience with President Joao Bernardo Vieira, they met the ministers for foreign affairs, the interior, justice and defence and the president of the national electoral commission.
